Ha december, akkor hó. Vagy listaszezon. December elejétől a zenei sajtó kicsit egymással is versenyezve elkezdi ontani az év végi listákat. A lemezipar szempontjából a december fontos hónap számottevő eladásokkal, melyeket generálni, irányítani tudnak a jelentős orgánumok összegzései. A Rough Trade, Mojo, Uncut, Q, Paste listáit összefogó első eresztés és a Clash, Filter, FACT, fRoots, Songlines – már több esetben szakosodott – listái után folytatjuk a szemlézést, ezúttal a metál és egyéb keményebb zenék szaklapjainak (Decibel, Total Guitar), valamint a műfajjal komolyan foglalkozó, de nem kizárólagosan metál zenei oldalak és magazinok (Pitchfork, Popmatters, Exclaim!) műfaji összegzései következnek. A Mastodon albumáról mi is többször írtunk, de a Blut Aus Nord, vagy a 40 Watt Sound szintén az év lemezét készítette el egyik-másik szakfolyóirat szerint.
